UQ Nutrition and Dietetics Practice

UQ Nutrition and Dietetics Practice offers a full range of professional and affordable services to the general public as well as students and staff at The University of Queensland.

The practice offers expert nutrition and dietary advice to treat and manage a range of health conditions, as well as those seeking to improve their general health and well-being.

The practice aims to deliver a patient-centred service with a commitment to helping our clients meet their individual needs and personal goals. Our dietitians take into account each clients medical and personal circumstances to recommend the most appropriate and realistic treatment plan.

Services are delivered by postgraduate UQ Master of Dietetics Studies students under the supervision of a fully qualified Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD).

Who can you assist?

We can provide expert dietary advice for the management  nd treatment of a range of health conditions, as well as offer general advice on healthy eating and nutrition.

We can assist people with the management of:

 

  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Gastrointestinal disorders
  • Cancer
  • Obesity
  • Food allergy and intolerance
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Paediatrics (eg Fussy eating)
  • Malnutrition
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (FODMAPS)

What services do you provide?

As a client of our practice you will receive a comprehensive and personalised diet and lifestyle assessment as well as your own personalised nutrition program.

You may also receive personalised:

  • eating and menu plans

  • practical advice for healthy eating and food preparation

  • advice on choosing the right foods when shopping and eating out

  • educational resources and information regarding your condition and diet

  • support to help you achieve your goals

  • Cooking demonstrations

Can you provide sports nutrition advice?

Yes, we are able to provide sports nutrition advice on:

  • nutrition pre/post games to optimise performance
  • how to increase muscle mass the healthy way
  • weight management
  • improving cardiovascular fitness
  • pre and post workout or competition nutrition.

What can I expect at a consultation?

During your initial consultation you will be asked to provide personal information to allow for accurate assessment of your health needs. Any information you disclose will be kept between you, the dietitians and if applicable your doctor. Your notes will be held in locked storage and only shared with those people directly involved in your treatment.

No fees apply to the UQ St Lucia Dietetics Practice.

UQ Ipswich Nutrition and Dietetics Practice is easily accessible by all modes of transport. Parking, including disability parks, can be found right outside Exact Radiology in UQ Health Care parking (designated spots in in carpark 2). Taxi ranks are adjacent to the bus stop on The Crescent; and there are local bus services to the clinic. Fees and Bookings

A referral is not necessary although it may help your dietitian better understand your dietary needs and health background. Referals may also be required to be eligible for certain rebates.
