UQ’s Master of Dietetics Studies will prepare you for eligibility as an Accredited Practising Dietitian with Dietitians Australia (DA). 

Master of Dietetics Studies

  • This three semester program builds on your undergraduate knowledge and gets you professionally accredited in just 18 months.
  • Approximately 850 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of clinical settings. During your placements you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework to practice and develop your clinical skills in real life setting.  
  • Develop practical skills and knowledge in how to apply the art and science of human nutrition in the prevention and treatment of various acute and chronic diseases. Help people make better food and lifestyle choices to optimise their quality of life and well-being. 
  • Explore advanced topics and practice in dietetics and nutrition, such as mental health, rural health, paediatrics and private practice.

Study UQ’s Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology and become a qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) in just 1.5 years.

Please note that this program has been suspended until 2022.

  • One-and-a-half year pathway to accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Access to Provider Numbers with Medicare Australia, Department of Veterans’ Affairs and many private health insurers, and other compensable funds and schemes.
     
  • You will complete 600 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of external industry placements, as well as our five on-campus clinics. Clinical practicum experiences have been designed to optimise your exposure to a wide range of clientele, practitioners and work places.
     
  • Learn how to deliver exercise-based lifestyle and behavioural programs for people at risk of developing, or with existing, chronic and complex medical conditions and injuries such as cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal issues, cancer and depression. 
     
  • Study at the School ranked third in the world for sports science (QS World Rankings 2018), and be taught by award-winning lecturers and Accredited Exercise Physiologists who have expertise across all of the pathology areas needed for clinical exercise practice.

  • Develop skills in examining and enhancing both athletic and coaching performance across bio-physical (e.g. recovery, program management, rate limiters) and socio-cultural (e.g. quality coaching practices, emotional regulation, cultures of excellence) domains.

Graduate Certificate in Sports Medicine

         Master of Sports Medicine            

  • These programs have been created specifically for general practitioners who want to develop or advance their knowledge and skills in sports medicine. An understanding of the fundamental principles of sports medicine and its applications will serve as an important backdrop within a general practice setting.
  • Programs offer flexible, work-based learning and are delivered entirely online using proven online learning pedagogies (such as hands-on video tutorials) and discussion forums to allow contact with expert staff and other general practitioners.
  • You will develop the clinical knowledge, research and practical skills for evidence-based practice in sports medicine. Be well placed to treat different types of exercising individuals, and different types of injuries sustained during sporting activities and other physical activity.
  • Assessment projects are highly practical and industry relevant and they can also be customised to your own development needs.

Sport and Exercise Psychology is a dynamic and rapidly expanding field that has much to offer those interested in working in sport and exercise activity settings. 

Master of Psychology (Sport and Exercise)

  • The Sport and Exercise Psychology program is offered jointly with the UQ School of Psychology and is specifically designed to allow graduates to obtain registration from the Psychologists Board of Queensland and membership of the College of Sport Psychologists within the Australian Psychological Society.
     
  • Complete over 1000 hours of supervised practice providing you with the unique opportunity to receive feedback from experienced psychologists and make value industry connections.
     
  • Develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence essential for practice as a consultant, researcher or educator in the area of sport and exercise.
     
  • Develop core professional skills and a strong understanding of the fundamental scientific principles of sport and exercise psychology.
