Student representatives are the face of the student body, and advocate for student interests on and off campus.

Enrolled students can contact student representatives to discuss issues, concerns and ideas related to their studies and student experience.

Become a student representative

The School of Human Movement and Nutritional Science has the Teaching and Learning Committee (T&L) committee which is part of the governance of the school.

Reasons to become a committee student representative

Committee membership is an opportunity to represent your classmates and contribute to ongoing enhancements of the program
The experience of being part of the School governance will enhance your employability skills.

What does the role involve?

The role broadly requires you to present your perspective and ideas, and to also sometimes gather the views of your classmates, to inform decision-making by the School
Induction and training will be provided to all student representatives.
The committees meet monthly between February and November. We appreciate you may not be able to attend all meetings but would welcome your attendance as much as possible. Meetings typically last 1- 2 hours
If you cannot attend meetings in person, it will be possible to attend via Zoom
Ideally, we would like our representatives to serve for 18 months, but understand this may be impacted by how close you are to completing your program.

The application process

Applications for the 2025 student representatives will open in August 2024 and will be advertised via StudentHub.
In the section asking which committee you wish to apply for, please select “other” and type the name of the committees listed above.
You will be asked to acknowledge that you will abide by the Health and Behavioural Sciences (HABS) Faculty Student Volunteer Code of Conduct by completing a module and quiz; and also that you have read and understood the UQ Volunteers Policy
Under the question “Unlocking your employability”, the form asks you to provide a 100 word Expression of Interest (EOI) outlining why you would like to be a student representative on your chosen committees and what capabilities you hope to develop in the role. In your response, please also advise what duration of appointment you could complete (i.e. end date)
