One of the requirements of any researcher is to acknowledge any possible sources of danger or adverse outcomes and to make every reasonable attempt to control and reduce these risks. The University has a formal process for managing risk in the form of Risk Assessments. 

All of the Risk Assessment materials are online. Each lab should create them and ensure students read them and verify they have read them. 

It is a requirement of any application lodged through the School that the investigators make reference to appropriate risk assessments and that all investigators have read the appropriate risk documents - a record of which is kept in the Risk Assessment system. Details of this kind should appear in the Ethics Application Form.
