This project examines the elements of active school cultures identified to contribute to students’ classroom engagement and readiness to learn, and the ways in which schools build active school cultures that support learning. Consistent with calls to understand school-based initiatives through local actors, these questions will be examined from the perspectives of key stakeholders from the iAIM (Increasing Activity and Intelligent Minds) project, a partnership project between the Departments of Education and Health in Darling Downs South West region. iAIM seeks, through various activities and the development of teacher capacity, to increase opportunities for students in Darling Downs South West region to engage well and effectively participate in learning by moving more and sitting less at school.

This project is funded by the Queensland Department of Education and Training.
