A/Prof Matt Kwan will be a visiting professor in the School of Human Movement and Nutritional Sciences at UQ for the next six months. Having worked closely with Professor John Cairney at McMaster University, they are Co-PIs on an ongoing project focusing on children with Developmental Coordination Disorder.

This seminar represents an opportunity for Matt to provide a brief overview of the diverse research projects that he has been leading in Canada, in the hopes of creating future collaborative opportunities.

He will share some findings from a longitudinal cohort study of youth transitioning out of high school, a novel movement-based physical literacy intervention focused on refugee youths, and experiences in developing community-academic partnerships.

A/Prof Matthew Kwan is an Associate Professor and a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair at Brock University in Canada. He is also co-Director of the INfant Child and youth Health Lab and Adjunct Professor in Family Medicine and Kinesiology at McMaster University.

His expertise is in the study of behavioural medicine, focused on understanding the determinants, and consequences associated with physical activity and physical literacy development from childhood through the transition into emerging adulthood.
