Centre for Sensorimotor Performance

About the Centre for Sensorimotor Performance (CSP)

Humans can perform a wide range of physical tasks so easily that it belies the complex processes that are involved.

For our bodies to produce appropriately timed and physically calibrated movements, our brain and spinal cord must interpret diverse sensory inputs and flexibly coordinate multiple muscles.

Our centre's research strengths are:

  • sensorimotor function
  • neurophysiology
  • biomechanics
  • sensory processing
  • virtual reality
  • applied skill acquisition.

We combine our research strengths to tackle basic and applied research questions in:

  • health (rehabilitation and surgical training)
  • sports (performance and training) and
  • industry (interface design and simulator-based training).
