Researcher biography

Sonya studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the Queensland University of Technology and graduated from her dietetic post-graduate degree in 1997. She is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian/Nutritionist and has worked in tertiary hospitals and community settings both in Australia and in the UK. She has also worked for Queensland Health as a Food Services Dietitian, Public Health Nutritionist and Community Dietitian/Nutritionist and completed a post-graduate degree in education. Her experience developed her passion for strategies in health professional practice to promote high quality patient outcomes. Following a recent master’s degree in applied science, she has commenced studying towards her PhD researching graduate attributes and outcomes of Interprofessional Practice education initiatives.

Research interests

Sonya's research interest themes include interprofessional practice and education, competency assessment in health professional education, health professional practice strategies to promote high quality patient outcomes and organisational outcomes of interprofessional practice and collaborative teamwork.
